Master of Wine Bill Nesto and Frances DiSavino return to the Milton Public Library to present their new book: Chianti Classico:  The Search for Tuscany’s Noblest Wine (Unversity of California Press, 2016).  The authors explore the townships of Chianti Classico and introduce readers to the modern-day winegrowers who are helping to transform the region.  The secrets of Sangiovese, the principal vine variety of Chianti, are also revealed as the book unlocks the myths and mysteries of one of Italy’s most storied wine regions.  The book has been awarded the 2017 Special Mention Award in the “Monographs” category by the Jury of the prestigious International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), headquartered in Paris, France.  According to the OIV, the OIV Jury “rewards the best works published over the past two previous years which provide an original and relevant contribution, with an international significance for the vine and wine sector”.  This year there were 65 works in competition, with 19 countries represented.  Nesto and DiSavino are the only American authors to win an award in this year’s competition.
