Container Gardening with Heritage Gardens
Thursday, May 18, 2023
TIME: 7pm - 8pm LOCATION: Keys Community Room CONTACT: Sara Truog, 617.698.5757Are you a fan of Hydrangeas?
Yes, those plants with the beautiful big blue (or pink), flowers that bloom in many Milton backyards!
Did you know that those fabulous plants can thrive in containers? Some gardeners in the know say they may thrive even better than in the ground.
Mal Condon, Curator of Hydrangeas at Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, is coming to the Milton Library on Thursday, May 18, at 7pm to talk about container gardening featuring Hydrangeas as the main event! By identifying the right plant and the right technique, you can have hydrangeas that regularly bloom. This presentation is offered at Heritage Gardens for a fee, but for Milton’s home gardeners who attend this Library session, it’s free!
And, the Hydrangea Guy (as Mal is known), is always happy to answer your questions – changing bloom color, when to prune, and why in some years, there are no blooms at all? There isn’t a question Mal can’t answer, so don’t miss this opportunity to learn about our favorite summer flowering plant.
Registration for this in-person event opens April 27, so be sure to check back then to reserve your space.
Milton Grows: a year-long initiative for all ages focused on gardening and sustainability. Funded by the federal Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the MBLC, and supported by our partners Sustainable Milton and the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
