Local artist Paul Riley will display his work in the Wotiz Gallery during the month of May. This exhibit highlights some recent paintings by this talented craftsman, including watercolors and acrylics. The art reflects Mr. Riley’s attention to detail and his interest in interpreting the world around him. The artist’s career as a mechanical designer and a teacher of drafting and design has influenced the style of his art. As an educator, Paul inspired many students to explore their creativity and be lifelong learners. After retiring, Paul pursued an interest in art and began taking painting classes and he moved from line drawing to more expressive free form. He has recently found watercolors to be a rewarding medium. His appreciation for lighting is seen in paintings such as “Sunset Lake” and “Nauset Light,” Paul continues to chronicle places he has traveled, as viewed in “Cuba Images.” Still growing as an artist, he embraces experimentation with subject, technique and medium. Paul remains open to innovative expression and enjoys the challenge of identifying a wide array of subjects to paint.
