October Wotiz Gallery
Friday, October 31, 2025
TIME: LOCATION: Wotiz Gallery CONTACT: Micaela Soucy, 617.698.5757Throughout the month of October (October 4-31) the Wotiz Gallery will feature Local Color, an exhibit by painter Vincent Crotty.
Vincent is an Irish-born artist from Kanturk, County Cork, who has been living in Boston since 1990. Regarded for his landscapes, seascapes, nocturnes, and figurative paintings, he paints with fluid and vigorous brushstrokes, balanced by sensitive color. His paintings reveal a remarkable understanding of light — transforming everyday subject matter into images that are memorable and moving.
Vincent has been exhibiting his work for over 40 years, in galleries in Ireland and the United States. He has been recognized with awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the John Stobart Foundation, Plein Air Magazine, and juried art shows internationally. He teaches at Mass Art in Boston and at the New Art Center in Newton, Massachusetts.
In addition, Vincent has created set designs for theater companies and productions including A Christmas Celtic Sojourn, Atlantic Steps, Cork City Ballet, the Huntington Theater Company, and Kieran Jordan Dance. Four of his paintings were used on the set of the movie Mystic River.
Vincent says, “Wherever I go, I always bring my paints and a portable easel. I try to capture the ‘true color’ of wherever I am. This show features paintings of ordinary places, from Ireland to Maine to Dorchester and Milton and beyond. I strive to capture the atmosphere of local scenes, local color, the moods of the seasons, and different times of day, in all aspects of light.”
A free and open reception will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 6 PM in the Gallery, where you may view the exhibit and meet the artist. Stop by the Wotiz Gallery anytime during the month of October to experience the “true color” of familiar places and to view the painting, “Late November,” shown here.
