COVID-19 Updates

Wednesday, July 1, 2020

Hello Neighbors,

I would like to take a moment to talk about reopening the Library.

Like most of you, I cannot wait until the Library is back open and running on full cylinders. We have been busy during the past several months, and so have you. We have provided record numbers of eBooks, audiobooks, streaming music and movies. We have developed an online programming schedule providing events for children and teens 5 days a week. We have also had a number of regular online programs for adults, like book and movie discussions, as well as a regular slate of speakers and other events.

Now, it is time to talk about reopening. The Library opened to the public on a limited basis on July 6th.

What does limited basis mean?

First, it means our doors will be open, but not all library services will be available. For instance, when the Library initially reopens, study rooms, public computers, printers and copiers will not be available.

Limited also means that library visits will be for a shortened amount of time. The Library will be allowing a limited number of people in the building at one time, so we ask that you keep your visits to 20 minutes or less. In order to promote an ‘efficient’ visit, there will be limited seating in the Library during our initial reopening.

So, what will your first visit back to the Library look like? First, we ask that you wear a mask to the Library. Our staff will be doing the same. We are taking every precaution to provide a safe environment for you to visit. We will be providing hand sanitizer stations throughout the building, and ask that you limit your own touch points. We will also be providing self checkout stations for when you are ready to take materials home.

The Library will have greeters at the front door to welcome you, answer questions, and to track how many people are in the building.

If you are not ready to visit quite yet, the Library will be continuing our curbside services throughout the summer.

Please look to our website www.miltonlibrary.org for the most current info about reopening plans and dates. If you have any questions, please call us at 617-898-4954.

Be Safe, Will Adamczyk
