TIME: LOCATION: Wotiz Gallery CONTACT: Micaela Soucy, 617.698.5757During the month of August, the Wotiz Gallery will feature a photography exhibit by Joe Ingelfinger.
Joe started photographing people as subjects 40 years ago. After a 23 year hiatus, he began photographing people again, this time with a digital camera to produce color images. Joe edits and prints all images himself.
Why take these pictures? Joe says, “At the time, I thought I could see some of each individual’s spirit, or inner self, on their faces and perhaps even in their body position, and I still do. I wanted to capture this. I feel that the power of these images lies not in individual pictures, but in the immensely varied depiction of determination, purpose, self-confidence, warmth, openness, joy, human striving, and even sadness, grief, and life with little meaning. I have tried to display some of the enormous variability of the human spirit. This exhibit would never have occurred if my best friend, Dexter Coolidge, had not encouraged me repeatedly over the past 30 years to display them. Sadly, he died last summer.”
An open reception will be held on Monday, August 3rd, 6-8 PM.
