Tonight there will be a free screening of the 2021 film called: “Fatherhood” starring Kevin Hart.

In this American comedy-drama movie, directed by Paul Weitz, is based on the 2011 memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin, Kevin Hart plays a new father who struggles to raise his daughter after the sudden death of his wife.  In this true story, childhood sweethearts Matt and Liz Logelin prepare for the birth of their first child.  Soon after delivering their daughter, Maddy, Liz suddenly suffers from a pulmonarhy embolism and dies.

Matt is devastated, but is determined to raise Maddy as a single parent.  His friends and family, however, are concerned that he may not have the skills or patience to handle raising Maddy alone.  This is a wonderful story of parenthood, love, struggles surrounding balancing work, finding love again, and family life, and there are many interesting characters in Matt and Maddy’s lives who you will meet, portayed by actors Alfre Woodward, Frankie R. Faison, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, Melody Hurd, and Paul Reiser.  The great actor Alfre Woodward plays Liz’s mother, Marion, and does an excellent job.

The Rotten Tomatoes movie website has this to say about the film: “…Fatherhood offers few surprises, but strong work from this smartly assembled cast gives this fact-based story real emotional resonance.”  The running time is 109 minutes and it is rated PG-13 for some strong language and suggestive material.  We hope you will join us for an inspiring story!
