Tuesday, June 10, 2025
TIME: 7pm - 8pm LOCATION: Virtual CONTACT: Jean Hlady, 617.698.5757Please come along with us for some armchair travel this evening with a wonderful Zoom program with speaker Joy Marzolf which describes and documents a journey along the Pacific Coast highway.
Oregon is well known for its rose gardens, but also for its beautiful and rugged coast. Travel though the Willamette Valley and through the coastal range to Newport and the scenic Oregon coast. From sea anemones in the tidepools to seals and sea lions hauling out on the rocks or frolicking in the waves, there is much wildlife to see. You might even see gray whales in the water! Travel a bit further south to the Rogue River where a scenic boat trip can lead to bald eagle and even river otter sightings. Starting in southern Oregon and into northern California, this temperate rainforest is also home to the coastal redwood, some of the largest trees in the world. Learn about these majestic trees and some of the wildlife that can be found nearby. Explore the beauty and wildlife of this part of the Pacific coast.
Our speaker has worked as a naturalist for over 20 years and 13 of those years were at the Broadmoor Sanctuary in Natick. She presents many programs for both adults and children to include a wide variety of topics such as butterflies, birds and reptiles, as well as wildlife behavior and travel talks about countries around the world, with a focus on their plants and animals. She also takes great photos during her travels to be included in this talk, which illustrate her topic.
